Dear RUSD Families and Staff,
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and patience during this challenging time. Your safety is our utmost priority, and every decision we've made this week has been with your well-being in mind.
Regrettably, the Line Fire continues to pose significant risks, with many of our families and staff still under potential evacuation orders. The unpredictable weather patterns have added to the complexity of the situation, and a State of Emergency has been declared due to the fire's impact.
While we had hoped to resume classes tomorrow, after careful consideration and prioritizing everyone's safety, we have made the difficult decision to keep ALL Redlands Unified School District schools closed for ALL students and ALL employees for the remainder of the week (September 11-13). This closure includes the suspension of all activities and athletics until further notice.
Our current plan is for all RUSD students and employees to return to school on Monday, September 16.
Our thoughts are with those in our community who have been directly affected by the Line Fire. We recognize that this extended closure may create challenges for many families, and we appreciate your continued flexibility and resilience.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, law enforcement officials, and all first responders working tirelessly to keep our community safe.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation during these extraordinary circumstances. Stay safe and take care.
Respectfully,
Juan J. Cabral
Superintendent
